Mahabalipuram Temple

Mahabalipuram is one of the most popular city in India. Mahabalipuram is located close to Chennai of Tamil Nadu on the shore of Bay of Bengal along the eastern cost of south India. The name of Mahabalipuram is derived from a Tamil word Mamallapuram. Mahabalipuram can literally meant as the city of great wrestler as the Mahabali puram means the city of mahabali (powerful). This temple is one of the most visitor temple in India. Mahabalipuram art is well known which is one of the amazing art and it is divided into four categories: open air Bas - relief, structured temples, man-made caves and rathas ('chariots' carved from single boulders, to resemble temples or chariots used in temple processions). Mahabalipuram is about 60 Kms. south of the city of Madras, in Tamil Nadu.  Mahabalipuram, or Mamallapuram is the chief seaport in the ruled of Pallavas in south India and now it is recognized as the site of some of the greatest architectural and sculptural achievements in India. The beauty of the place of the place is not only due to these architecture but the vast casuarinas trees, the silvery sandy beach the classical hand male crafts around have made them all to form what is a collective splendor. If you visit there you always feel calm and peaceful. They feel hand hearted and more out from this historical and fascinating tourist spot.

The Shore Temple:-

Shore Temple is one of the most complex group of all the temples there are two shrine place one behind the others one facing east and other facing west. The temple facing west is also dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is large in plan comprising sanctum, mahamandapa, front mandapa, balipitha and dvajastamba.

This is one of the most popular dance festival which is organized by Department of tourism, it is conducted by government of Tamil Nadu every years and conducted on 25 December every years and is conducted on all Saturday and government holidays. If you visit on these date then must watch dance festival over there with family, friends and others.
